Rajecké Teplice
Rajecké Teplice town is located in woodland valley of the fold called Rajecká kotlina . There is situated an attractive spa dated back to the 14th century, where diseases of nervous system, rheumatism, neurastenies, psychostenies and vocational diseases are treated. A healing process is accentuated by an agreeable surrounding of parks and a near by spa lake.

The town represents a seat of the Žilina self-governing region and is one of the largest towns of the Slovak Republic. Along the circumference of the central Mariánske square there are burgher´s houses with arcades conserved. Here from spring to autumn time you can enjoy agreeable sitting with coffee-bar and restaurant services. In the historical core of this part the Saint Paul´s church dominates. The Holy Trinitie´s three- naved church above the Parish stairs is of renaissance character, its tower is 51 metres high and the near by Burian tower is 5 metres lower. At the Hlinkovo square the Považská gallery is situated.

Budatín castle

The Budatín castle is built at the confluence of the Kysuca and Váh river. The reference dates back to the 14th century. Formerly it used to be a water castle. Nowadays the Považské museum in Žilina with a world unique art and handicraft wire products collection is placed in here. Expositions of the Contemporary interior and the Sacral collections form the 18th and 19th century are presented inside the castle.

Recreational centre Snowparadise Veľká Rača

The recreational centre Snowparadise is located in the Oščadnica village on the slopes of the highest peak of the Kysuce region, in the concrete Veľká Rača (1236 metres above the sea level). It is one of the best technically well-equiped ski centres of Slovakia. In the part called Dedovka you can find six downhills, in the part called Lalíky there are three ones and in the part called Marguška you can enjoy five downhills. The centre of Veľká Rača is ambitious about attracting tourists during the whole year.

Museum of the Kysuce village in Vychylovka
The Museum of the Kysuce village is situated in the Nová Bystrica village, particulary in the Vychylovka-Chmúrovci settlement. Wooden cottages from the entire Kysuce region are gathered in here. During the tourist season cultural, presentation events , more over practical demonstrations of folk crafts are organised in here. You can also admire the rarity of the museum, the technical relic, particulary the Historical forest narrow-gate railway with operational machine park and coaches assigned to transport of visitors.

Stará Bystrica

Stará Bystrica village lies in the valley of the little Bystrica river. The documentary reference dates back to 1417, the village started to develope under the impact of the Walachian colonisation. The neo-gothic church was built in 1892. The dominant of the village is represented by the square with the central Brigands´ bastion.

Vrátna valley
The Vrátna valley is one of the most popular centres of the summer and winter recreation in Slovakia. It stretches below the ranges of the Malá Fatra mountain, declared the National natural park, called Krivánska part. The starting point for the valley is represented by limestone Tiesňavy by the Terchová village, which was established during a typical settling process ( formerly it used to be a complex of 120 settlements) and it is a birth-place of Juraj Jánošík, a folk revolt hero.

Demänovská cave of Freedom

The Demänovská cave of Freedom is located in the Demänovská valley. It belongs to the most attractive subterranean valuable of Slovakia. It has a lenght of 8126 metres, visitors can admire its unique sinter fillings and beautiful tarns. Concerning the Demänovská Ice cave, another rare natural sight, there are 650 metres accessible for visitors.

„Water castle“ Liptovský Hrádok

The town water castle is situated in Liptovský Hrádok town at the confluence of the Váh and Belá river. The documentary reference dates back to 1341. The castle is partially accessible for visitors, one part accordingly neighbouring renaissance castle is under the reconstruction, momentary.

Museum of the Liptov village in Pribylina

It is situated in the cadastre of Pribylina village, which lies below rocks of the Western Tatras. In the open-air museum objects of the folk architecture of the Liptov region are presented. During building of the Liptovská Mara dam a number of valuable objects from the flooding area were transferred to this place.

Aquapark Tatralandia and Western City in Liptovský Trnovec

The centres belong to the Liptovská Mara dam complex, which lies near by Liptovský Mikuláš town in the valley among massifs of the Low and Western Tatras. Liptovský Trnovec town, the Sielnická flow and the surrounding area of the church tower near by the Liptovská Mara dam represent appropriate places for mainly summer recreation and sports. On the drive between Liptovský Trnovec town and Ondrášová village there you can find the Aquapark Tatralandia with year- around accessible relaxing swimming pools, massage sittings, geysers, water beds, tobogans and additional attractions, e.g. the Holiday Village and the Western City in Liptovský Trnovec town.

Demänovská valley
The Demänovská valley stretches below the northern slopes of the Chopok and Derešov hill in the Low Tatras, declared the National natural park. The village is a starting point for Jasná, one of the most important ski centres of Slovakia.

Zuberec and Roháčske tarns
Zuberec village lies in the valley of the Studený potok, it is a starting point for popular Roháče mountain, the Western part of the High Tatras, where you can find a number of scenic waterfalls and mountain lakes called tarns. Above Zuberec village there is the Museum of the Orava village with objects of folk architecture reflecting a complete social scale, particulary farmers, yeomen, craftsmen, shepherds and representatives of clergy.

Oravice village is a former felling settlement. It lies in the upper part of the same named stream with scenic valleys called Tichá, Bobrovecká, Mihulčia and Juráňová. In the surrounding area of Oravice village mineral springs can be found. Nowadays the village is becomming an importanat centre of spa and healing tourism.

Orava castle
The Orava castle is built on the high cliff above the Orava river in Oravský Podzámok village. It is a historical centre and a dominant of the Orava region. It was built as a gardian fortification on the drive to Poland. The romanesque Citadele, the highest object of the castle, is documentary mentioned in 1267. Recent objects have been built in the 17th century. Inside the castle there is a number of expositions of the Orava museum presented. Expositions document the history of the Orava region, its archeology, ethnography, fauna and flora. The night sightseeing is also very popular.

Dolný Kubín
It is the most important historic town of the Orava region. The historical architecture is centralised at the P.O. Hviezdoslav square together with the statue of the considerable poet, which is placed in front of the building of his literary museum. The upper part of the square is molded by buildings of the evangelical church, Jewish synagogue and gymnasium. In the centre of the square there is the Župný house form the 17th century, which is a seat of the Orava gallery disposing the second largest collection fund of the creative art in Slovakia.

The town is the centre of the national culture of Slovaks accordingly the economic centre of the Turiec region. The romano-catholic Saint Martin´s church is the oldest architectonic relic. It was built in the 13th century, there you can admire wall paintings from the 15th century. More town architectonic relics are linked with the national emancipation movement of Slovakia. In 1863 the institution called Matica slovenská was established in Martin town and it became the national centre of the culture and science in Slovakia.

Turčianske Teplice
Turčianske Teplice town is a centre of the upper Turiec region accordingly a seat of the district. It belongs to the oldest spa towns in Slovakia. The first written reference to thermal springs dates back to 1281. Building-up of the spa was begun in 1592. The diseases of locomotory system, rheumatism, ischias, gynaecological, kidney and dermatological diseases are treated here. Area of the spa is molded by a large spa park. In the central town there are two public thermal swimming pools and the salin cave.

Rajecká Lesná
Rajecká Lesná village, until 1948 it has been known as Frívald, is a pilgrim place. It has a world reputation for the monumental Slovak bethlehem of the folk wood-carver called master Jozef Pekara, it is characterised by typical Slovak architecture and dozens of moving human and animal figures.


Rajec town is situated 20 kilometres from Žilina town. The little town used to be known as the centre of crafts, until recent time the wood-carving has been actively provided. The town attraction is represented by the Town Hall from the 16th century located in the centre of the square with more double-deccker originally renaissace and baroque houses.
